Hey there. I talk a lot about how you have to make your own rules as a writer, because the way somebody else does things is never going to work for you. You can't just copy someone's process wholesale. Of course, that's the case in business as well. And fitness. And relationships. And—well, everything. It's never one size fits all. (Though it'd be a whole lot easier if it was.) This lesson has hit home hard for me over the past year as I have transitioned from being a work-for-hire freelancer to an online business owner/coach. I've talked a bit about the mindset shift I've had to make in terms of how I show up and how I present myself. But I haven't really talked about the shift in how I run my business. Partly because I'm still very much throwing spaghetti at the wall to see what works. I'm studying what other people do, and trying to figure out what parts of their process fit with my goals and temperament, and what parts are no-gos. I'm still learning, but I have figured out one thing that really doesn't work for me: high-pressure launches. Building a thing, setting a date, screaming about it until I'm hoarse, and lying awake at night wondering if I'm going to fill a program? Ugh. We hates it. I'm a creature of habit and consistency. I like to build repeatable schedules, then make regular improvements and progress. I like the slow-and-steady pace of a marathon rather than the frenetic panic of a sprint. It's why I write books instead of working in an ad agency, I guess. So when my friend Michelle Fernandez announced she had a new course on how to sell evergreen programs (like book coaching and ghostwriting!) through a repeatable low-stakes webinar, I was intrigued. She's—of course—running a free webinar to sell the course (how meta!). So I popped on to see if I liked her vibe and method. And, reader, I loved it. I bought Michelle's One Hour Sales System course immediately, and I'm about halfway through. I'm seriously enjoying the hell out of it. Michelle has already helped me clarify my messaging, positioning, and offer so much (yay, included coaching calls!). I'm genuinely excited—and I haven't felt excited about sales for a loooong time. :) If you're curious, Michelle's running another One Hour Sales System webinar on Wednesday. It's free, and a great way to reevaluate what's going on in your business sales. (Especially if you hatess launchesss too, my precious.) Sign up for the webinar here:
Until next time, Jessie P.S. Michelle is the best person to explain this system, so here's what she has to say about it: The One Hour Sales System is about generating sales every single week.
That means fewer “all or nothing” moments, less pressure on a single launch, and a system that compounds into consistent income and impact.
You have big revenue goals and want to transform thousands of lives.
But despite the feast and famine cycle, late-night launch pressure, and wondering if this next one will be enough, things feel… unpredictable.
Cue the launch-hustle loop that leaves you exhausted, noticing a few more gray hairs, and wondering if this whole online business thing is actually sustainable.
Consistent, predictable revenue isn’t luck. It’s strategic.
And the truth is:
When sales only happen when you launch, you’re always starting from zero.
That’s the power of consistency over pressure.
This is your permission slip to stop relying on pressure to create sales and start creating them weekly.
